Christmas Lights, A Birthday Gift And Some Giveaway Parcels

Hi everyone, I wanted to show you some pictures of our outdoor Christmas lights that we put up last week.  The picture above is of our back entrance, Dasha Deer is munching on the rose bush beside the stump chair my DH made out of a big old fir tree we had to cut down.

And here is a picture of the front of the house, Dasha's mate Dail is up here munching on one of my bush roses, you ever notice how much deer love roses, LOL?!  Note to self, move the hoses, they don't add much to the Christmas design!!

I love when the house gets all lit up for Christmas, there is something so heart warming about seeing those lights come on each evening.  Now on to the inside of the house, I've been procrastinating about doing it because it means having to give the house a good cleaning and I HATE house cleaning!  But it will get done soon and I'll post some pictures.

Remember the present I had made for my Mom's birthday that I couldn't show you because I didn't want to ruin her surprise?  Well she got her gift in the mail today so here are the pictures of what I made for her.

He's a 'Lumberjack' Santa, I made one years ago from a kit made by Foothill Fabrications (just did a Google search and they don't seem to exist anymore) and my Mom has always liked him so I dug out the pattern and made another one for her.

He turned out too cute, his beard was rather 'fuller' than expected (the muslin I used was of a heavier weight than that provided in the kit) but he is still adorable.  I used some of my Sew Sisters fabric for his pants, it is so nice to work with!

I'm working on some Christmas doves in a variety of Christmas fabrics as well as a painted soft sculpture snowman, a star Santa ornie and some Christmas pokes (they are in the planning stages but I'm thinking a snowman, a Santa and a reindeer).  And I think that will be the end of my Christmas creations for this year, time to start thinking about Valentine's Day and Easter, yikes!  If those holidays come as quickly as Christmas I will be scrambling to get some new items made on time, where or where does the time go?!

I should sign off now and get back to those Christmas doves, they are very cute but time consuming!  I will leave you with a picture of our front door all decorated for Christmas, may you be able to take the time to stop and enjoy this joyous season with your family and friends.

Till next time, happy crafting!

  1. I love your decorating Deb. You entrance is really magical looking, I really love those little trees. Look forward to coming inside!

    Have a lovely weekend,

  2. Hi Deb,
Wonderful outside lights. I guess we need to think of that before it is all over!
    Enjoy your day,

  3. Hi Deb - Just stopping by to offer my Christmas greetings and wishes for a lovely weekend ahead! Hugs

  4. Beautiful decorations - very tasteful, but festive, too. I bet your neighbors love you!

Speaking of love, I bet your mom loves the Lumberjack Santa you made. He's adorable, and I think his fuller beard looks perfect for a Santa.
