Happy St. Patrick's Day From The Paxton Valley!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and yours!  As I have a wee dram of Irish blood flowing through my veins  I've always loved this day celebrating my Irish roots.  It would be lovely to sit out on a patio and enjoy some green beer, as I'm sure some of you are doing, but look what is happening outside MY door today!

Yeppers, that's snow and a LOT of snow!  Can you see my poor cutter quilt in the background hanging on the line that I was airing?  It's now got about 3 inches of snow on top of it and it's STILL coming down like crazy!  And my early robins have disappeared down to lower and, hopefully, less snowy elevations!

So, what have I been up too lately?  Well, I'm involved in a kitchen towel swap so I stitched up this towel to send to my swap partner.  As it was a secret swap, I can post the picture here as she has no idea that I had her name or that she will be receiving it from me :O)

The pattern was a free one that I found online by Cheryl C. Fall on About.com, it is a redwork pattern but I really like in black as I've done here.

I don't know why I don't do more embroidery or stitcheries, I love doing them so much and it is so relaxing.  Another thing to put on my to-do list!

And since you can't have a towel without a towel holder, I also included in my swap package this holder that I made from a wrought iron rolling pin holder and a vintage textile bobbin!

It took me the longest time to figure out how to affix the bobbin to the rolling pin holder; I thought of glue or epoxy or wiring it on, but then one day I thought to just crimp the metal around the bobbin and ta-da!  A towel holder!

I didn't want to put any more holes in my poor walls so I've just perched the towel holder on my Amish jelly cupboard in the pictures; I didn't realize until now that the door knobs on the cupboard look like a eyes LOL!  As I have several of these rolling pin holders and MANY bobbins, you may be seeing these showing up in my Etsy shop and on my selling blog shortly ;O)

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day and my acceptance onto the Old Farmhouse Gathering team on Etsy (thanks so much for adding me to the OFG Team!), I created a green treasury to mark the day.

Hope you can take a minute to visit the shops of these talented artisans.  And while you are over at Etsy, make sure you stop by to comment on this wonderful "Friends Are The Flowers In The Garden Of Life" giveaway treasury from the amazing artisans on the OFG Team.

  4. Love that towel, not so much the snow. We did sit outside today and the windows and doors are still open. Love to see the curtains blowing in the breeze!
