From Summer To Winter

Hi everyone, hope your week is going well.  I've been getting my Etsy shop and selling blog opened up again and have discovered that I have forgotten how to do EVERYTHING!  Went to add Willa's giveaway on my sidebar and could NOT remember how to write the HTML code for the link!  I had to look at my old links I already had posted on my blogs to figure out how to do it.  Yikes, that is scary, I've been writing HTML code for years but a few months away and poof! It's gone!  It couldn't be my age now, could it?!  To paraphrase a saying, the body is willing but the MIND is weak LOL!

I want to share some more pictures with you of our camping trip.  As most of you know, we have 3 dogs and they are our kids, we love them to pieces and spoil them something rotten!  On one of our first camping trips with The Queen, she discovered that she could fit onto our camping chairs quite nicely and curl up and have a snooze off of that cold, hard ground.  As time has gone by, we have designated our old camp chairs as the 'dog chairs' and take them with us whenever we go camping for their comfort.  Seriously, we have dog camping chairs, I am not kidding you here :O)  Also, since we often go camping in the fall when it is cool, we have also purchased sleeping bags for them and comforters so they can stay cozy!  I know, I know, we have a problem, but they don't make a 12 step program for this affliction that I've ever discovered!  So here are some pictures of our pups 'roughing it' :O)

This is The Queen, she jumped up and fell asleep before I could get her comforter on the chair so she had to make do with one of my DH's old bathrobes covering her up (we use it to cover the generator in the back of the truck to keep the dust off of it as we travel the back roads).  It doesn't seem to be a problem!

And here is the Big Dog, he doesn't get up on the chairs (he weighs 135 lbs and has had 4 knee surgeries, so getting up into a chair is not in his repertoire!) but he does enjoy being wrapped up in his blanky (just don't get your nose too close to his blanky, it is rather 'fragrant'!).

And finally, here is our newest edition, The Delinquent.  You may remember that she came to us as a stray in the spring, nothing but skin and bones who'd been running wild for who knows how long.  She's settled into our family very nicely now but we weren't sure what she'd think of our 'dog chair' tradition.  Apparently, she thinks it's just fine, thank you very much!

Getting back to my post title, From Summer To Winter, we have been having an unseasonably warm fall here this year.  It gets chilly at nights, down around 3 to 4 C (37 to 39 F) each night but the daytime temperatures have been reaching 22 to 23 C (71 to 73 F).  Well, that appears to be coming to a swift end!  Here's a screen shot of our local long range forecast that I took this morning from The Weather Network webpage.

If you click on the picture, you will see that they are forecasting 'mixed precipitation' (aka SNOW!) on Sunday!!  EEEEK!  I am so NOT ready for snow!  My friend Tracy (aka the Screaming Sardine) told me they got some snow last week in Minnesota so I know we will not be alone in getting some early white stuff but come on, it's October for Pete's sake!  Seems to me I made a post  back in May about a snowstorm we had then too.  Four 'snow-free' months is not enough Mother Nature!

Speaking of the Screaming Sardine, if you sell handmade or vintage items I want to tell you about Tracy's amazing advertising deals that she is offering.  She will help promote your items on her blog, on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and has other advertising option packages as well at phenomenal prices.  Click here to find out the details (or here is the direct link: http://screamingsardine.net/2012/07/low-cost-advertising-for-handmade-vintage-shops/), it is money very well spent in my mind!  If you do decide to take advantage of one of her great deals, tell her Deb sent you ;O)

Well, I best get off of the computer (despite my best intentions, I already seem to be spending hours on this dang machine again!) as I have an order to fill for a lovely repeat customer from Etsy.  Hope you have a great day and that your weather forecast is looking a little warmer and much less white than mine!  Talk again soon,

Deb

  2. So good to hear from you again!

Sounds like you had a fun and busy summer, that's wonderful.

I completely understand about the computer time issue, I had to not check in on so many blogs and i have cut back on commenting and even answering comment or I am on here for hours!

The pups have it soooo ruff! For all the pleasure the critters bring us they so deserve the little luxuries that we give them...but they don't see them as luxuries simply how they should be treated LOL!

  4. Hey, Deb -

We're the same way with our dogs. In fact, our sofa really isn't our sofa; it's the dogs'! Your sweeties look right at home on their chairs and blanket. I'm glad the new addition is fitting in just fine. They're all so pretty. (I'm partial to larger dogs myself, tho' Tessa is on the small side at 35 lbs).

By the way, thanks for the shout-out. :) I hope you have a great rest of the week!

    Cheers,
    Tracy
