From The Heart Tag For A Vintage Journey

Hello everyone, it's time for the last Tag Friday of the year over at A Vintage Journey, hard to believe that 2017 will soon be behind us!  If you aren't familiar with Tag Fridays at AVJ, the Creative Guides get to make tags of any colour, size or design that they choose in the months that have a fifth Friday in them.  December is the last month this year that has five Fridays so here is the tag I designed for our Tag Friday challenge.

Pantone just announced that Ultra-Violet is their Color Of The Year for 2018 so I decided to embrace the new colour trend and used lots of Distress products in various shades of purple to make my 'From The Heart' tag.  Read on for my how to.

I started out with one of Tim Holtz's Distress Mixed Media Heavystock hang tags and gave it a light coat of white gesso.  Distress Oxides in Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves were smooshed onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and the gesso'd tag dragged through until I was happy with the coverage.  The same process was repeated with the same colours of Distress Inks (love how the Oxides seep up through the Inks!) and then stenciling followed with Distress Crayons.  The Bubble stencil was coloured with Dusty Concord Distress Crayon in the bottom left corner and then the stencil was spritzed with water and the stencil monoprint applied to the upper right corner.  Wilted Violet Distress Crayon was then applied through the Splash stencil to the upper left corner and the stencil monoprint applied to the bottom right corner.

The tag was sealed with Distress Matte Collage medium and droplets of water were sprinkled over it once it was dry.  Liquid Platinum embossing powder was sprinkled onto the water droplets and the tag heated from below to activated the embossing powder.

Some gold metallic paint from my stash was thinned with water and splattered over the tag.

More Distress Matte Collage medium was applied over the tag and while it was still wet some gold embroidery floss was added to the bottom and Finnabair's gold Metallic Micro Beads were sprinkled here and there.

The tag was dried thoroughly, another coat of medium was added over top to ensure that the micro beads would stay in place and then some Indian Gold Nuvo Embellishments Mousse was added around the edges.

Gold Metallic Kraft-Stock was sanded and die cut with the heart from Tim Holtz's Scribbles and Splat die set and one of his heart Shape Strips.

The tag was then assembled, I added some fibers and ribbon from my stash to the the top of the tag, keeping it in place with some thin curled gold wire.

The Shape Strip die cut hearts were cascaded down from the top of the tag;

and the die cut Scribbles heart was added over top of the gold embroidery floss and micro beads at the bottom of the tag.  One of Tim's Quotations Metallic Stickers was then added over the die cut heart.

Love all the layers on the background and the great textures from the Distress Crayons, embossing powder and micro beads.

Have to admit I'm not much of a purple girl but I do love the combination with the metallic gold accents and hope you like it too.

Make sure to pop by A Vintage Journey to see all of the beautiful tags created by the Creative Guides for you, they are wonderful as always!  I'd like to take this opportunity as well to wish you all a very Happy New Year, may it bring you and yours joy, prosperity and good health!  Happy creating,

Deb xo
