Celebrate Spring Mini Album For Therm O Web

Hi everyone, stopping by to let you know that I have a tutorial over on Therm O Web's blog for my Celebrate Spring mini album created with their Mixed Media Sheets, Deco Foil Designer Stencils and Deco Foil Transfer Sheets.

The Mixed Media Sheets are an amazing product, a blend of paper and fabric that stands up to anything you can throw at it.  I had been struggling with the fact that the sheets don't like to accept water based mediums such as inks and crayons until I had a (very belated!) light bulb moment and realized that gesso was the answer ... er, duh!!  I've used Distress Oxides, Distress Inks, Distress Stains and Distress Crayons in this little album and they all reacted perfectly on the gessoed Mixed Media Sheets.  This substrate takes a licking and keeps on ticking as the saying goes, never any piling or tearing, it's a definite keeper.

Tim Holtz's Small Tattered Florals, Mini Detailed Butterflies and Garden Greens Thinlits all made an appearance on the cover.

I added three single page signatures inside and sewed them in with embroidery floss, adding a heart bead that my Mom had just given to me on the spine, it was the perfect addition!

The inside pages were embellished with vintage digital images courtesy of Ephemeras Vintage Garden and foiled Wildflower die cuts.

Some Flutter butterflies stamped onto Champagne Deco Foil and an envelope with a secret journaling spot inside were added to a couple of the other pages.  The Pinwheel Deco Foil Designer stencil was used under the Flutter butterflies along with DecoArt Media Crackle Paste. and Denim Deco Foil was added around the edges of the envelope page with the Deco Foil Adhesive Pen.

I'd like to link my Celebrate Spring mini album up with Mini Album Makers March challenge :O)

Hope you can pop by Therm O Web's blog for my how to, I had a lot of fun making this and see a lot more Mixed Media Sheets in my future now that I've had my (belated!) light bulb moment!

See you there and happy creating,

Deb xo
