Tidings Christmas Shadow Box Card

Hi everyone, I've been playing with making dimensional interactive cards and have a first attempt to share with you.  I followed the excellent tutorial from the inimitable Jennifer McGuire on YouTube for her 'Inside Shadow Box Card'.  Don't know why I haven't made them before, they are so easy and so much fun!

The outside of the card was stenciled with Tim Holtz's Starry stencil and then stamped with his Mini Swirly Snowflakes stamps in shades of blue Distress Inks.  The Stitched Rectangle die cut  was left over from die cutting the window inside the card and I just stamped it with the evergreen spray from Tim's Scribble Woodland stamp set and watercoloured the image.  The 'tidings' sentiment was die cut with the Holiday Words 2: Script die.

I had those 3 young girls stamped and fussy cut in my stash (from Artistic Outpost's Paperboy stamp set) and they fit perfectly inside the die cut window.  The 'frame' around the window was stenciled with the mini Diamonds Shifter Stencil (#36) with Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky Distress inks and more of the Mini Swirly Snowflakes were stamped and die cut with the coordinating Swirly Snowflakes dies.

The background of the shadow box was stenciled with the mini Starry stencil (#31) and the Tree Line die was cut from some blue inked scrap paper and layered on top.  The 'fa-la-la-la-la' sentiment is also from Tim's Scribble Woodland stamp set.

The girls were attached to the front of the window so that they would pop up when the card was opened and one of the die cut snowflakes was also attached behind them so it would pop up too.

So much fun to make these cards and really easy once you understand the mechanics, can't wait to make more!

I think that I will also give inside tunnel cards a try, they are very similar to these shadow box cards but have more layers and graduated die cut openings for even more dimension.  Click here to see Jennifer McGuire's video tutorial for the tunnel cards, too much fun!

I'd like to link up my Tidings Christmas Shadow Box card with Simon Says Stamps current Monday challenge 'Let's Get Ready For Christmas'.

Thanks as always for stopping by today and happy creating,
