Wishing You Joy

Hello and thanks for stopping by today, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day filled with the love and companionship of family and friends xo

I went down to my brother and sister-in-law's to celebrate with both of our families and wanted to share with you a gift that I made for my Mom and Dad this year (now that they have received it!).

I embellished some wooden letters that I purchased with paint, stamps, die cuts and some of Tim Holtz's Christmas Idea-ology, love how they turned out!

The letters were given a base coat of warm white acrylic paint and then dry brushed with green and gold and lightly stamped with Tim's Ledger Script stamp and Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink.

Ranger's Opaque Matte Texture Paste was added here and there in little snowy drifts and then sprinkled with Distress Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter while it was still wet.

Tim's Mini Holiday Greens were die cut from cardstock inked with multiple shades of green Distress inks and then adhered together back to back to form the evergreen sprigs.  I left a bit of the white card showing here and there to simulate snowy branches and added Tim's Idea-ology Gum Drops on the J and the Y ...

and coloured a Fluted Star with Gold Alcohol Ink Mixative on the O.

One of Tim's adorable little Decorative Deer was added as a finishing touch inside the O, how I love those wee deer!

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing how my JOY wood letters came together and I'd like to take this opportunity to wish all of you much joy and good fortune in the coming New Year.  Happy Boxing Day everyone!

  1. Love the sweet, simplicity of this beautiful gift! It’s perfect! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

  2. What a lovely and beautiful gift for your parents Deb! Wonderful colors painted and pretty stamping with the snow and various kinds of stems added to the tops - this certainly brings JOY to those who view it! xx Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

  3. What lovely altered letters, Deb - a perfect decorative touch for the home at Christmas. I'm sure your parents love them. The little touches of gilded script and the festive greenery are just delightful.
I'm still in Christmas hibernation (don't come out fully until after 12th Night on 6th January!), but am trying to do a bit of catching up with people even so. Happy New Year!
