About Me

Hello and thanks so much for stopping by my blog.  My name is Deb Riddell and I live in the beautiful province of British Columbia in Canada.  My DH (dear hubby in the vernacular of the blogging world) and I live on a small acreage in the southern interior of the province with our beautiful rescue dog who is affectionately referred to as The Delinquent!  She's a loving, sweet and energetic pup and we are so blessed to have her in our lives.

I am a self taught mixed media and folk artist and love to create with paper, fabric, paint and inks.  I started out my creative journey as a water colour and decorative painter but over the years discovered a love for primitive folk art which somehow ended up with me becoming a designer of primitive critters and decorations.  It was a very surprising transformation as sewing was never one of my strong points but I love to watch my creations evolve from a doodle on a piece of paper to a finished piece.  The journey is always interesting and very often surprising as they take on their own unique personalities as I create them.

I have now also discovered the wonderful and varied world of mixed media, which has become my newest and latest passion.  The possibilities are truly endless and I am having so much fun playing and combining disparate mediums to create works of art and heart.  I have been very fortunate to be invited to join the design teams at A Vintage Journey and the  Mixed Media Mojo challenge blogs and am learning so much as I work with the talented artisans on both of these teams.

My camera is also never far from my side; Mother Nature in all of her beauty surrounds our home here in B.C. and she is an endless source of inspiration.  I am a neophyte photographer to be sure but playing with my camera and sharing my photos with you is another passion of mine and I hope that you will enjoy what you see.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read 'about me' and I hope that you will follow my little blog.  I appreciate your interest in my work so much and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to drop me a line!  Thanks again for visiting and hope to see you again soon,
