You Are The Hero Card For Emerald Creek Craft Supplies

If you are looking for my Therm O Web Mix It Up Monday post, click here.

Hello everyone, it's a new month and that means it's time for a new challenge over at Emerald Creek Dares.  This month Kim has proposed the theme of 'Unsung Heroes' and asks us to create inspirational pieces regarding loved ones, those who have served or are serving our countries, special pieces created from a "found relative" or perhaps some artistic expression to frame that perfect poem, story or photo.  I decided to make an inspirational card for this month's challenge to remind the recipient that they are the hero in their own lives every single day.

Emerald Creek Craft Supplies used:

I started out with a piece of Distress Mixed Media Heavystock and stamped it with the 'stars' phrase from Kelly Klapstein's Dream Phrase set and with the 'remember' word from Nicole Wright Designs Fallen Blossom set.  I immediately embossed the stamped words with Verdigris Sparkle embossing powder and once it had cooled, coloured the whole panel with Distress Stains in Stormy Sky, Weathered Wood and Tumbled Glass.  The panel was then trimmed down to 4" x 5 1/4" to fit onto the front of a kraft cardblank.

The Believe Buckle Connector charm was embossed with more Verdigris Sparkle embossing powder and the 'believe' word enhanced with a black felt pen after embossing the charm.

Two Heart brads and the Three Star Metal Band charm were embossed with Charred Gold embossing powder.

The 'you are the hero' phrase from Artistic Outpost's Paperboy stamp set was stamped with Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink and clear embossed onto more Heavystock.  The phrase was inked with Distress Inks in the same colours as the stains used above and then edged with copper glitter glue.

The two embossed Heart brads and the Three Star Metal Band charm were attached to the top of the panel around the stamped sentiment.

The Believe Buckle Connector charm was slid onto a piece of Linen ribbon and the ribbon stretched across the bottom of the panel.  The panel was then adhered to the front of a kraft card blank and the stamped 'hero' phrase was bumped up onto some pieces of black fun foam and added near the bottom.  As a final touch, some Pyrite gems were scattered here and there around the card front to mimic stars.

I hope that you've enjoyed seeing how my You Are The Hero card came together and that you've been inspired to make something for the unsung heroes in your life.
